Shirley E. (Strutt) Peterson was born in Ridgeway , Wis on January 19, 1907. She graduated from Dodgeville High School and then from Platteville Teachers College. She taught school in Ridgeway In 1927 she married Harold Frost Strutt. in the Methodist Rock Church, Ridgeway, Wi. which their fathers helped build. She was a teacher , assistant postmaster with her husband in Ridgeway Wis.She was elected to the Iowa county board of supervisors, (the first women to ever be elected to this position.)then elected to the Register of Deeds office in Iowa county until she married Don Peterson in 1949 .She was a wonderful cook ,famous for her dinner rolls , and wedding cakes for many people(starting with the wedding cake of her son Donald and his bride Joanne Reese.) She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed bragging about them to her friends.She served as head of retired teachers,attended the congregational church.She was a member of Eastern Star . One of her great passions was her doll collection. She had many old dolls and loved to show them off to the grandchildren. She also collected many other things - Hummel - Salt and Pepper shakers - vases - plates . She was buried from the Plymouth Congregational Church in Dodgeville, Wi. with burial in the Eastside Cemetery in Ridgeway, Wi.
