Donald Frost Strutt

Donald Frost Strutt was born in Dodgeville, Wi in the General Hospital. He lived on a farm in Ridgeway with his parents until his father died in 1942. He and his mother and sister and brother moved to Dodgeville in 1944 where Grandpa Charlie Paull joined the family to help with the care of the family. Donald graduated from Dodgeville High School in 1949 and attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport. He graduated in 1952 and couldn't start to practice his chosen profession because he was too young, so worked the the Palmer Clinic until he reached the age of 21. Then he and his wife, Joanne, moved to McGregor, Iowa to begin his practice. On February 12, 1953 he opened his first clinic in the Gill Church Confectionery, where the McGregor Library is now located. In December 1953 he moved his clinic into the house known as the John Kramer House at 411 Main Street, McGregor. The Strutt Chiropractic Clinic opened at its current location on August 11, 1958, and extensively enlarged and remodeled in November 1960, and July 1981. In May 1990 Don and Jo Strutt added several new offices, an apartment and garage to the building, and moved their residence to 302 Point Anne Lane above the Clinic. Don has seved as McGregor's mayor and as a member of the city council. He was also a former owner of the North Iowa Times newspaper - member of the eastern star and masons - past rainbow dad - member of the Methodist Choir and chruch board - member and past president of the Hospital Board and also was President of the Council of Orthopedics and on the Chiropractic state Board.
